What is Kasplex and when did it launch?
Kasplex is the first zkEVM Layer 2 network built on Kaspa, with its mainnet launching on August 31, 2025. A Layer 2 is a network constructed on top of an existing blockchain — the "Layer 1" — that borrows its security while adding new features. Kasplex uses zkEVM technology, which means it is compatible with Ethereum's smart-contract tools, allowing developers to bring Ethereum-based applications to Kaspa without rebuilding them from scratch. Its debut was announced at Malaysia Blockchain Week 2025. For a beginner, this marks the moment Kaspa grew beyond fast payments and gained a programmable layer where decentralized applications can run.
