What does Kaspa's Toccata hardfork enable?

Toccata is a hardfork that fundamentally expanded what developers can build on Kaspa. Before Toccata, Kaspa's scripting was relatively limited and any Layer 2 solutions required trusted bridges — meaning users had to rely on a third party to hold or relay their funds. After activation, developers can build trustless token protocols using covenant scripts and covenant IDs, Layer 2 systems secured by on-chain ZK proof verification, and stateful applications whose rules are enforced directly by Kaspa's base-layer consensus. For a beginner, this matters because Kaspa can now host a much wider range of applications without requiring you to trust any intermediary.
